Falafel burgers

Falafel is extremely easy to make and versatile so it can be used in a bunch of meals such as sandwiches, salads, pitta breads and tortillas. It also provides a small amount of protein as it’s the main ingredient is chick peas.


Makes 4 servings

  • 1 can chick peas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • handful flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons wholewheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or olive oil)


  1. Pat the chick peas dry with kitchen paper
  2. Tip all ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth
  3. Shape into 4 evenly sized patties
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan, add the patties and fry for a couple of minutes each side until golden brown

Tips & Alternatives

This recipe makes 4 falafel burgers and they’ll keep in the fridge for a good few days so it’s ideal to make a batch so lunch is covered for the entire week. We’ll be following up with some interesting ways to use falafel so watch out for our new posts :).
