This Turkey Bagel Sandwich is super healthy and extremely easy to prepare making it ideal for a working lunch.

When including bread in your diet it’s always best to go with wholewheat as, given that it’s a form of complex carbs, it’s will keep you fuller for longer, keeping hunger at bay during the afternoon. Turkey breast is a great source of protein and is very lean so ideal for keeping the waistline trim.

All in all, this is a beast of a bagel sandwich, suitable for any healthy eater’s lunch box 🙂


  • 1 Wholewheat bagel (186 kcal)
  • 75g turkey breast, roasted (118 kcal)
  • Handful baby leaf spinach
  • Light cheese spread
  • Dijon or English mustard
  • Black pepper

Turkey Bagel Sandwich Directions

  1. Cut the bagel in half, spread the light cheese on one half and some Dijon mustard on the other.
  2. Add the turkey breast, spinach and finish with some fresh, cracked black pepper.

Tips and alternatives

Using a fresh turkey breast is better than using processed, packed turkey which usually has water and salt added. To make the preparation time as quick as possible, roast a whole turkey breast for 50 minutes at 190c and once cooked keep in the fridge in a sealed container.

Place it in the fridge straight after cooking without letting it cool to ensure it lasts as long as possible (it’s a myth that you should let things cool before refrigeration). It should last for 2-3 days without any problems.

Also, you can try switching out the turkey for chicken or tuna which also make for an awesome bagel.
